Teacher Spotlight: Yordan Arazov

Introducing Mr. Arazov, a distinguished educator at Crimson Global Academy. With a Master's Degree in Economics from Beihang University and certification as an American Board physics teacher, Mr. Arazov brings over four years of rich experience in teaching science, physics, and math to online classes at CGA.

His expertise extends to preparing students for IGCSE, A-levels, and AP exams. Having collaborated with students from diverse regions including Australia, China, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, the EU, and North Africa, Mr. Arazov is proficient in Bulgarian, English, and Mandarin Chinese, enhancing his global teaching approach.

Why I joined CGA

Before CGA, I had had plenty of experience teaching online during COVID. I found out I liked it a lot for its convenience and efficiency. Now I have the huge honor to be working at the best online school in the world. On the one hand, CGA allows me to be part of a young and highly creative international team. On the other hand I get the privilege to meet and work with exceptional students from across the globe. CGA is truly a very special and unique school!

Q & A with Mr Arazov

Q: What is your philosophy or approach to education?

A: I grew up as an older brother who helped my little sister with school on a daily basis. So education and teaching have always been a big part of my life. As a student I remember all my favorite teachers, and as a teacher I realize how important the student-teacher relationship is.

Q: How do you get your students to engage?

A: By preparing interesting lessons that are well structured and by knowing my students and making sure they can relate to the lessons. When teaching science, a cool demonstration or hands-on activity goes a long way. And of course by asking my students lots of questions throughout each class and letting them do the doing and the talking.

Q: What are the main differences between CGA and a brick-and-mortar school and what are some of the benefits to students learning online?

A:  The convenience and the freedom. Students and teachers are free to join a class from anywhere they like to. Communication is as easy as the click of a button. This means lots of efficiency and more time to devote to academics, as long as students are highly motivated and able to manage their time well.

Q: What is your most memorable moment at CGA?

A: I’ve had many memorable moments but I think the one that made me really happy and proud was at the end of my first semester at CGA. That was when one of my high school math students thanked me and said she couldn’t have passed with an excellent score without my patience and support. Earlier at the beginning of the semester the same student told me she had never really liked math and asked me not to expect too much of her. I did the exact opposite and kept very high expectations towards her, making sure to praise her progress every time. I was so happy that she changed her mind about math and am sure that she will continue to find success in whatever she decides to do in the future.

Q: Do you have any advice for your students?

A: An older friend once told me: “When you are young, you have so much time ahead of you and nothing to lose. Don’t be afraid to try and learn new things, no matter how difficult it may sound. Anything is possible when taken one step at a time, as long as you start today!”

Top Tip for Exam Preparation

Start very early, make sure you have the same textbook as your teacher and study consistently. In your free time, watch lots of videos and browse the internet to get an idea of how the concepts you learn in class are applied outside of school. These will give you a great long term understanding of the subject, but not necessarily a better grade. In the end, a better exam score comes down to experience and skill. You get these by solving lots of workbook and past paper questions, and getting proficient and efficient at it.

In my free time…

I am very keen on traveling, hiking, kayaking, and all racket sports (especially tennis). I also love tinkering with things for my science classes and doing small coding projects.
