In the ever-evolving world of engineering, one field that continues to captivate the minds of aspiring innovators is aeronautical engineering. We sat down with a remarkable student Henry Shen, based in Shanghai, China, who studies the international A-Levels at our global online private school, Crimson Global Academy.
Henry received an offer for Aeronautics and Astronautics / Aerodynamics at Southampton University in the UK, which is ranked #4 for this course.
I was actually returning home when I received the email about the decision. The internet connection wasn't great in that area, so I waited anxiously outside my door, not wanting to go inside until I saw the word "acceptance." When I finally saw the confirmation, I was overjoyed. Southampton has been a dream university for me, and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to study aeronautics at such a renowned institution.
I'm originally from Shanghai, China, and I've had experience with both AP and IB programmes before coming to CGA. At CGA, I've been studying A-levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, and English Language. It's been a great fit for me, as the flexible pacing and specialised curriculum have allowed me to focus on the subjects I'm most passionate about.
The DaVinci program at CGA has been instrumental in my preparation. The well-paced curriculum and flexibility it offers have allowed me to focus on my studies while also pursuing extracurricular activities and research opportunities. The support from my teachers and admissions counsellor, particularly Mr. Bob Fan, has been invaluable in navigating the application process.
One of the key differences I've noticed is the personalised attention and support I receive at CGA. In my previous offline schools, the large class sizes often made it challenging to get the individual guidance I needed. At CGA, the smaller class sizes and dedicated teachers have really helped me thrive and develop my confidence.
Aeronautical engineering is a field that fascinates me on so many levels. Beyond just aircraft design, it encompasses a wide range of applications, from wind farms to fluid dynamics, that can impact various aspects of our lives, from transportation to sustainability. The opportunity to delve into this multifaceted discipline and contribute to advancements in these areas is truly exciting to me.
My advice would be to focus on identifying what you truly want to pursue, rather than just chasing the highest-ranking schools. It's important to find a university that aligns with your passions and where you can engage with like-minded individuals. Additionally, I encourage students to explore their interests beyond the core curriculum during their international A-level studies, as this can provide valuable insights and strengthen their applications.
As Henry prepares to embark on his aeronautical engineering journey, his passion, dedication, and how he thrived at CGA are clear. His story serves as an inspiration to aspiring engineers and the value of studying international A-Levels at an online private school. Congratulations Henry!
