Step 1: Understand Late Enrolment Deadlines

How fast can I transfer schools?

We often receive this question from families who need to quickly transfer mid-year and are running out of options.

The good news is that CGA accepts rolling admissions throughout the year. This is possible because we have multiple school calendars each with their own term dates, combined with a range of educational pathways. Flexible learning is an essential part of what makes are school so unique.

Each campus has their own late enrolment deadlines and processes. The Aoraki calendar suits students in the southern hemisphere, running four terms starting in February and ending in December. Our Greenwich and US Calendars better suit northern hemisphere students, running for three terms from September to May of the following year.

Your eligibility also depends on which curriculum you choose: Pre-IGCSE, IGCSE, A Levels, US Diploma, or APs.

Aoraki Late Enrolment Deadlines 2025

The deadline for transfer students in Term 1 is February 29th 2025. This applies to all classes and learning pathways.

After this deadline students can still enrol in Term 2, on the condition that they catch up with course content they've missed.

For full-time Pre-International GSCE students revision guides and extra resources are available to help students catch up independently. At the next stage, full-time International GCSE students are recommended extra classes to help get them up to speed. The Da Vinci programme is ideal to help students catch up with learning they've missed through 1:1 personalised instruction.

Transfers beyond Term 2 are handled on a case-by-case basis. In many cases, it may be more beneficial for students to explore September pathway courses or full-time support through Da Vinci rather than sitting exams unprepared.

Lastly, applications for late transfers into AS Level courses are also evaluated individually. At this stage of advanced learning it becomes more challenging for students to catch up with course content, as gaps in foundational knowledge can significantly impact success. We therefore give preference to students coming from strong academic backgrounds.

Greenwich Late Enrolment Deadlines 2024-2025

The final deadline for late enrolments in Term 1 is 30 September. This applies to all classes and learning pathways. The 2024-2025 academic year commenced in September 2024.

After the September deadline students can still enrol, but the process and deadlines differ according to the programme:

• For A Level pathway students, all late transfer applicants after the 30 September deadline must be pre-approved by the academic team.
• The same applies for late transfer IGCSE students. If students have missed significant course content they may not be entered for exams.
• Pre-IGCSE and Lower Secondary students are welcome to join at any point in the academic year, after going through a pre-approval process.

The Greenwich campus ensures a smooth transition by guiding students to catch up through class recordings, completing missed classwork, and staying on top of homework assignments.

US Late Enrolment Deadlines 2024-2025

For late enroling students opting to study in live group classes, the deadline is October 7th. The 2024-2025 academic year commenced in September 2024.

For students taking AP classes through the Da Vinci programme, late enrolment in Term 1 is available until the first week of December to ensure students have enough time to prepare for their exams.

Beyond Term 1, students can apply on a rolling basis and their admissions application will be assessed by the academic team.

For both Greenwich and the US, Term 1 transfer deadlines for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year will be released once class timetables are confirmed later this year.
