CGA Community News: September

September marks an exciting new chapter in Crimson Global Academy's community, with the academic year kicking off for the Greenwich and US campuses, while the Aoraki campus wraps up its term. 

At the Greenwich and US campuses, families and students were warmly welcomed with a series of engaging online activities, thoughtfully designed to enhance their time at CGA. These initiatives aim to create a positive environment, encouraging meaningful connections and collaboration from the very beginning.

In addition to the virtual experiences, students and families also had the chance to come together for lively meet-ups in Melbourne, Sydney, Tokyo, and the United Arab Emirates, providing a wonderful opportunity to connect and celebrate the diverse community within CGA.

Thriving Thursday Webinar: Wellbeing Support for a Positive School Year: Tips and Overview

To provide students from Greenwich and US campuses tips on how to thrive for the academic year, Greenwich Deans Edie Griffiths and Beth Haresnape hosted the Thriving Thursday session, titled 'Wellbeing Support for a Positive School Year: Tips and Overview at CGA.’

Thriving Thursday webinars are designed to foster dialogue around wellbeing and personal development within the CGA community. During the webinar, the deans presented valuable tips, an overview of the wellbeing support available at CGA, and strategies to help students thrive throughout the school year. They emphasised the importance of ‘setting realistic goals’ and practising ‘positive self-talk’ to support students in their studies.

Virtual Social Days

CGA students have the opportunity to connect with fellow students from around the world through Virtual Social Days. Held on September 6 and 13, this month’s Social Day featured a virtual art tour of the Louvre Museum, allowing students to explore renowned art works and share their interest in art. Participants also enjoyed fun and engaging activities such as ice-breakers, online Pictionary, and interactive quizzes.

CGA’s Virtual Social Days not only provide a platform for students to make new friends but also prove that students can feel a sense of belonging through these shared experiences, even within an online school environment.

Wellness Days and Student Meetups in Sydney and Melbourne

As part of a mental health and wellbeing initiative designed for students who recently sat exams, CGA students in Melbourne and Sydney enjoyed a day of fun activities during CGA’s mental health and wellbeing day last 3rd of September.

Melbourne students had a great time at Monopoly Dreams, where they had the opportunity to experience the game Monopoly in an immersive way, beyond just the board game. Whereas, students in Sydney were treated to a day at Taronga Zoo, where they explored various animal habitats and trails.

Science Practical Day in Melbourne

CGA’s Science Practical Days recently expanded to Melbourne, offering Pre-iGCSE and A-level students hands-on learning opportunities.

On September 6, students engaged in various science experiments and activities, including microscopy and exercise and heart rate experiments in biology, chemical reactions and pH testing in chemistry, and aerodynamics experiments in physics, including building a Zoetrope.

These experiences not only enhanced their understanding of scientific concepts but also showcased CGA’s commitment to creating opportunities outside the online school environment, making science both accessible and exciting.

CGA Clubs Fair

To encourage club participation and a vibrant community within CGA, a week-long Clubs Fair was recently hosted for students to explore club opportunities, connect with fellow enthusiasts, and discover the joy of being part of a club.

During the Clubs Fair, CGA club leaders hosted interactive club info sessions, where students had the chance to learn key information about each club, know what it’s like to be part of a club, and have their questions answered by club leaders.

The event was also a great opportunity for students to discover each active club and consider starting new clubs that match their interests. As an online school with students studying across different time zones, the sessions were recorded for those who were unable to attend live.

CGA Families and Students Meet in Dubai and Tokyo

CGA families and students in Dubai and Tokyo recently gathered for a one-day social meet-up, providing an opportunity for families to connect with fellow students and parents. At the meet-up in Dubai on September 13, families had the chance to meet A-Level Pathway Principal Ronan Kearney and Regional Director of Admissions Yulia Sukhorukova.
